Womens and Mens M&Co Evaluations

Final M&Co Windows

Google SketchUp Store Windows - Mens

I then used the 3D warehouse on Google SketchUp to find 3D male models and for the old picture frames. I then used Google Images to find New Renaissance images to create the background for the window as the trend im using for the season spring summer is New Renaissance. I then found a glass door in 3D warehouse and placed it in the doorway., as well as finding the M&Co logo on google images and using it as the store sign.

i used the paint bucket tool and went on materials to find the stone for the outside to make the store look more realistic. For the boys window i used the circle tool and the push tool to create the platforms and then found the background images on Google and used an alphabet image as i thought it would be suitable for children. i also put in the window a 3D old trycle as i thought it was suitable for the renaissance reference.

Vogue Editorial Development

When creating my editorial and putting my images in i found that the images did not sit right when the model was alligned on the same side ineach image such as in this image they both were alligned on the left. To fix this problem i transformed the image and reflected it so that it was alligned on the right. i felt the gap of colour between teh images worked better and looked more professional. I also had to play around with the allignment of the text and colours so that they stood out to the reader.

As part of my editorial i included a body of text and i faced a problem when i tried to change the typeface the background behind teh text would go pink and it would only dissapear when i used a different font, so with trial and error i found font that i could use.

For the cover i used black for the title and i thought it looked too harsh and over powered the image, so then i changed teh colour to white and thought it suited teh image more and complemented teh colours. I then played around with the 3rd colour from pinks to purple and i settle on a little plum as i thought it was dark enough to see over the pink background and was just the right shad of purple to complement the models skin tone and background. i also had to play around with type face and italics to get the sub headings to stand out but not take over and draw the eye away from the model.

Google SketchUp Store Windows - Womens

For the platform in the window i used the circle and push up tool and using paint painted teh bottom one pink to follow the colour pallette for the trend New Renaissance. I then on google images found an image of flowers that were pink and fitted in with romantic feel of teh trend. i also found a new collevtion sign on google which i used to promote the new range. For the girls window i used the rectangle tool and push up tool to create the platform and then changed their position so that they were at an angle. I then on 3D warehouse used a 3D raindbow as i thought it would be a fun and eye catching installation to draw the customer in.
I then added 3D flowers to teh window to make it relevant to the Spring/Summer trend and also eye catching and key peice to make the window femanine. I then added 2D images i found in the 3D warehouse, as the 3D models were not dressed as relevant as the 2D images of women i found. I also added an image of a venican painting that i thought would add culture to the window. I then used 3D models of young girls to stand on top the platforms.

M&Co Research

These are my first research board for teh store M&Co and its competitors, Nwelook and Matalan. We then have to find a trend to use as a basis for the store windows we are to create for M&Co Womenswer, Menswear and Kids.

Afrodian Trend Board

From the Afro-Chique trend we came up with as a group i then ellaborated on it and decided to use the Mardi-Gra celebration when Africa Americans dress up in Native American costume to represent a united world and a positive notion for the future.

I'm going to use this cover and editorials as my inspiration and as a template as they use a lot of accessories and have similar postinings of the hand to the images we took so its has given me a good starting point to think of the way im going to put my editorial and cover together.

Trend Prediction Session

This session we took our images into the seminar and as a group put all our images together and put them into different groups of images that we thought went together and came up with a few different trends such as gothic/ vampiric trend from teh black lace and cross jewlery refrences. We then looked at pastels and floaty chiffon materials but thought that was very on trend for this season. We then looked at bright colours and prints and brought the images together and came to the trend Afro-Chique. The trend would have traditional prints and be made from light weight materials and have a hand-crafted luxury feel to it.

London Trend Spotting

I recently went to London Fashion Weekend and as part of my brief i had to look for innovators of fashion and collect 30 images. At first i was confused with what innovator was and the difference between an innovator and a stylish perosm, and i went to manchester and around Aflex Palace and saw a lot of cool people such as punks and goths but i didnt think they were innovators as they followed a trend they just were different to my style so stood out to me. Although walking around london i started to get a feel for what i was looking for and these images are a few i took from London Fashion Weekend and from this im going to try and come up with a new trend for the future.
